One of the most important artists of our time, Pablo Picasso assembled a personal art collection which included works by modern masters such as Cézanne, Matisse, Renoir and Rousseau, as well as African and Oceanic objects and Iberian sculpture. 'My friends' as Picasso referred to these art works formed a collection of resources in studios as documented by Brassaï, David Douglas Duncan, André Gomès and other photographers. Picasso & his collection focuses on a selection of some 100 of Picasso's works and archives - now held at the musée national Picasso, Paris - alongside works by Picasso himself. Texts explore the sources and references in Picasso's works and the way in which Picasso viewed and selected the works in his possession. Contributing authors: Anne Baldassari and Philippe Saunier; with an extract reprinted from André Malraux's Picasso's Mask.
